Be Encouraged!

I have a word of encouragement for you today. Are you struggling with doubt, feeling trapped with no way out?  Rest in God's word - b e assured that His word and promises over that situation and your life will never fail.               Hebrews 4 vs 12 says the " For the word of God is alive and powerful . It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires ." 2 Corinthians 1 vs 20 - " For all the promises of God in Him  are  Yes, and in Him Amen , to the glory of God through us."  Numbers 23 vs 19 - "God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it ? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it ?" God can never lie, trust His timing - though it may seem like there is no manifestation, know that it will manifest in God's time. God's timing is never la...

Paul, the Holy Spirit, and Surrender

Apostle Paul as we may know hated and persecuted Christians, but later went on to give his life to Christ and write most of the New Testament. God in His mercy visited Paul (then Saul), and commissioned him for a special assignment. This assignment was to bring the gospel/good news to the Gentiles (non Jews). Read more about his encounter with Jesus in Acts 9 vs 1 - 19 . In Galatians 1 vs 15 - 16a, Paul talks more about this call - " But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him   to reveal his Son to me [ a ]  so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles..... " If we read further, in verse 16b - 17, we see that after Paul's encounter, he wasn't in a hurry to meet with the other disciples/apostles, instead he took time alone to (I believe) fellowship with and learn from the Holy Spirit.  There is a lot to learn from Paul's teachings, but I'll focus on 3 key points. He did not preach by ...

The Simple Gospel of Jesus

We may have heard, read, or are familiar with John 3 vs 16, or maybe not. I even quoted it in my prior post here . It says " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life". So God gave His only son (Jesus), but why?  To keep it simple, man fell in the book of Genesis ( the first book of the bible ) due to their disobedience and for this reason man was separated from God.  From then onward, God in His love had a plan to reconcile man to Himself in fellowship and communion. This plan was for Jesus, the only begotten (son) of the Father to die and take on the sin of man. To do so, God chose a man named Abraham. Abraham and his wife Sarah gave birth to a child of promise Isaac, who birth Jacob (Israel). Through Jacob's direct descendants came the 12 tribes of Israel - see Genesis 49 .  Ultimately, Jesus came through the lineage of David ( the tribe of Judah - see Matthew 1 ), with a simple purpose ...

The Fellowship

Did you know that the popular end to the "grace" we share in church was birth from a verse in 2  Corinthians? This is a popular verse that we all recited growing up in church, with little attention to the actual words or their meaning. 2 Corinthians 13 vs 14 says "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all" (NLT). Often times, we add "sweet" before the fellowship. Looking closely at the verse, we see Paul ( who wrote the letter to the Church in Corinth ) emphasizing the need for fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Fellowship here means continuous communication, intimacy, close relationship, friendship. So who is the Holy Spirit ? This topic is very broad and will require multiple posts to piece apart. For today, let us look at the John 16 vs 5 - 15 Jesus mentions that it is best for Him to go away, because if He doesn’t the Advocate won’t come. From here we see that the Holy Spirit is inde...
